A devastating incident occurred in Kwara State on the first day of January, 2025, as a retired Controller of Works with the Federal Ministry of Work and Housing, AbdulRazaq Ajani, was gruesomely murdered by four young persons. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident, which took place at Ajani’s residence located at Dele Gege Street, Aderoju area in the Tanke area of Ilorin.
According to eyewitnesses, Ajani and his family had just returned from Offa, their hometown, where they had celebrated the New Year. The family arrived at their residence around 3 pm, and shortly after, the four young assailants, who had allegedly trailed them from Offa, attacked and brutally murdered Ajani.
The attackers, described as being between 18 and 22 years old, were caught on CCTV camera recordings casually entering Ajani’s compound. They appeared to engage Ajani in a discussion before hacking him to death with small axes in the presence of his wife and children.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with many sympathizers visiting the family to offer condolences. The police have launched an investigation into the murder, and a team of officers has visited the scene to gather evidence.
This heinous crime highlights the growing concern of insecurity in Kwara State and the need for increased vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community.
