Security operatives in the early hours of Thursday, August 1, took over the city of Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli and other communities in Delta State as the protest against bad governance is set to begin.
They took over the town as early as 6 am,
There is a heavy presence of security operatives at Enerhen junction, Effurun roundabout, Airport junction, Ajogodo in Sapele and Otowovdo junction in Ughelli.
Transporters and owners of businesses were seen going about their routines freely.
Security operatives have taken over strategic locations in Delta State, including Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli, and other communities, as the protest against bad governance is set to begin.
The military and police have commenced a massive nationwide deployment of soldiers and police personnel ahead of the August 1 #EndBadGovernance protest planned by some youths and civil society groups.
Security operatives have been deployed to key locations, including:
Enerhen junction
Effurun roundabout
Airport junction
Ajogodo in Sapele
Otowovdo junction in Ughelli
Akanu Ibiam International Airport
Abakpa Junction
New Heaven Junction along the Enugu-Abakaliki road
The security operatives are put in place to prevent any potential violence or disruption during the protests, and to protect citizens and critical infrastructure and a precautionary measure to maintain law and order prevent clashes between protesters and counter-protesters protect vulnerable individuals and groups safeguard critical infrastructure and public assets ensure the protests remain peaceful and do not escalate into violence
