The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) says road crashes in the state reduced by 41.11 per cent due to its introduction of 24 hours operations.
Mr Seni Ogunyemi, the TRACE Commander, stated this at a news conference in Abeokuta on Thursday.
SPYRONEWS reports that the news conference was organised as part of activities to celebrate TRACE at 20, commemorate 10th Annual TRACE Commanders’ Conference and retirement of TRACE Commander.
“Also worthy of note is the introduction of the 24 hours operational services through the TRACE Special Operation Force Unit, TRACE Whistle Blower Initiative and the TRACE Emergency Traffic Service.
“All of these have contributed to the prompt and timely response to rescue and emergency services and has led to 41.11 per cent reduction on total number of crash cases.
“Also 31.25 per cent reduction in total number of fatalities and 29.49 per cent in the total number of serious cases,” he said.
The commander also said that the corps planned to increase the number of commands in the state to enhance service delivery.
He disclosed that the agency would soon open zonal commands in the three Senatorial District in Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West.
Ogunyemi further said that nine Area Commands would be created in the Federal Constituencies in Ogun as well as 18 corridor commands.
The corridor commands, Ogunyemi said, would be created in all the 18 major corridor of the state.
The commander appreciated Gov. Dapo Abiodun for approving the employment of 1,000 officers, noting that this would further increase the organisation’s visibility and responsiveness.
