In a decisive move to uphold academic integrity, the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (ADUST) in
Wudil, Kano State, has announced the expulsion of 34 students and the suspension of 13 others for one academic
session following findings of examination misconduct. This measure is the outcome of the university senate’s approval of the
report submitted by the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee during its 123rd meeting held on 9 October
2025. According to a statement issued by the Head of Information, Publications and Public Relations, Abdullahi Datti, the
sanctions were graded based on the nature and severity of the misconduct committed. Some students were also
issued warning letters in addition to the more decisive disciplinary actions of expulsion and suspension. The statement further emphasised that the university
remains steadfast in its zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice and is committed to preserving the value of its
academic awards and the credibility of its examinations. These latest disciplinary actions follow a renewed commitment by
the institution to strengthen oversight of examinations, ensure accountability among students and restore confidence in
the educational process at the university. Moving forward, ADUST management has indicated that additional preventive
measures will be introduced, including improved invigilation protocols and enhanced student awareness programmes
on examination ethics. With the new sanctions now public, the university hopes
to deter future infractions and reinforce the principle that academic misconduct carries serious consequences.
